OFFICIALS CLINICS Summer 2023
Hi KO families,
We are looking for parents/guardians that are interested in becoming Officials this summer! Swim meets do not happen without the volunteers (and Officials) from our Region. Please consider taking one of the Stroke & Turn Clinics this summer. Chad Badry (our Kootenay RDO) will be hosting a couple of clinics immediately following the Saturday events at both the Trail and Kimberley meets. The clinics typically take about 1.5 hours and are a great way to learn and understand the 4 main competitive strokes.
Stroke & Turn Clinics:
Saturday June 3rd – Trail
Saturday June 17th -Kimberley
Saturday July 8th (tentative) -Colville
If you have already taken a Stroke and Turn clinic, and have had on-deck experience – please consider taking a Starter and Ref Clinic this summer. We are really in need of more Starters & Refs in our region!
Starter & Ref Clinics:
Saturday June 24th – Castlegar
Saturday July 8th (tentative) -Colville
PROVINCIALS!
Hi everyone,
The BCSSA Provincial Championships will be in Nanaimo, BC this summer. The dates are Thursday August 17th (practice in the late afternoon), Friday August 18th, Saturday August 19th and Sunday August 20th.
In order to attend Provincials, your swimmer will need to have qualified at the KO Regional Championship Meet -which will be held in Nelson on the weekend of August 5/6th. For each event at Regionals, swimmers placing in the top 3 will qualify to swim at the Provincials.
If you plan to attend Provincials, should your child qualify – it is HIGHLY recommended to book accommodations in Nanaimo ASAP. There are not many options remaining at this time, so please try and book something soon if you do plan to go.
As of May 6th, there are a few hotels with rooms available, as well as some air bnb, or places available through VRBO in Nanaimo. There are also some hotels available in both Nanoose Bay and Parksville (which are approximately 30 min. from the pool).
